What Kinds of Liposuction Does MacMed Offer?
MacMed offers tumescent liposuction, Smart Lipo™ and VASER® liposuction. Each technique involves breaking up and suctioning out fat deposits with a small tube called a cannula.
Tumescent liposuction is the most popular type. This method involves injecting a solution into the targeted area, which causes the fat cells to swell up so they are easier to remove. The solution also contains an anesthetic called lidocaine that helps keep the patient comfortable. Another ingredient, epinephrine, causes the local blood vessels to temporarily constrict and thus prevent bleeding.
Smart Lipo™ is a kind of laser liposuction. During the procedure, the doctor inserts a cannula containing a laser fiber through an incision. The laser liquefies the targeted fat cells without harming the neighboring tissues. The heat from the laser also stimulates collagen production that tightens the patient’s skin. The surgeon will suction out the fat cells.
VASER® liposuction is a variation of tumescent liposuction that uses ultrasound to break up the targeted fat cells. After injecting the solution into the targeted area, the doctor inserts a small tube that emits ultrasonic energy. After liquefying the fat, the surgeon removes it.
What Is Strawberry Cold Laser Lipo?
Strawberry cold laser lipo is another method of removing fat cells. It is utterly non-invasive and doesn’t even require incisions. Instead, our specialist places a paddle that emits a cold red laser against the patient’s skin. When the laser reaches the fat cells beneath the skin, it causes them to develop pores on their surface. The cells then rupture and release the fatty acids, water and glycerol that had been locked within them. The body’s lymphatic system collects the debris left by the ruptured cells and expels it from the body.
